SHARON JENNINGS-ROJAS

President

Biography

Dr. Sharon’s 35-year career includes a emphasis in executive leadership, higher education and administration, community outreach, and healthcare advocacy. Since 2001, she has maintained a private practice, providing compassionate care for individuals, families, and communities. As a subject matter expert, she has served as a resident doctor of acupuncture herbal medicine for the Howard County Detention Center. There, she delivers a wellness curriculum and provides acupuncture and wellness care for residents, staff and the administration. AsShe’s a co-instructor for their Crisis Intervention Training  (CIT) Program and has been intricately involved in various research initiatives within academia. Dr. Jennings-Rojas continues forging deeper, collaborations and partnerships to expand inclusive research within education and the acupuncture and herbal medicine landscapes.


She has served as a National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) executive board member and on the executive board for the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (CCAHM).  In 2023, she was appointed by Governor Wes Moore to serve on the Maryland State Board of Acupuncture where she has recently been re-appointed as Vice Chair.


Her most recent projects include serving as a contributing panel member for the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine’s Job Analysis Task Force. She was also appointed to the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine’s Standards Working Group and additionally serves as an ACAHM site visitor, evaluating acupuncture and herbal medicine institutions of higher learning. She is a founding member and contributor to the Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Coalition, which sets current educational standards for acupuncture and herbal medicine schools across the country.
